Microperforated ducts for rail and marine applications

With the AMX System it is possible to give the right solution, with absolute performance in all railway applications, for trains, subways, tramways, both for new and refurbished carriages.

The AMX System consists of a flexible duct, made of a special air-proof fabric, on which a specific perforation is made, calculated according to a mathematical model.

The operating system of AMX ITALIA is based on the phenomenon of air jets. The nozzles thus created make it possible to obtain along the entire duct, in addition to a uniform distribution of air, a distribution that privileges certain zones, while providing the pressures necessary to obtain the required aeraulic performance. This perforation is established by a theoretical calculation according to software resulting from AMX’s know-how and experience, followed by laboratory test verification and full-scale models.

AMX air diffusion duct

The air diffusion duct, on which the calibrated perforation is made, is manufactured from a special flexible coated fabric made to meet the fire classification according to EN45545-2.

The fabric is airtight and does not absorb moisture or dust.
The operating temperature is -10°÷ +80°C (pdf temperature chart).
According to the usage limitations of the AMX system, the fabric is guaranteed for 5 years.

Because the AMX system is flexible, it can adapt to the shape of the room in which it is installed, thus allowing the available space for air flows to be used without risking interference between the duct and other rigid elements, at the time of installation.

Fittings

Fittings – such as bends, tees, reductions, etc. – are made from the same fabric as the ducting. – are made from the same fabric as the duct, in order to create the network for air transport and distribution. In the case of ducts used only for transport, a double-skin solution can be realised with thermal insulation in between, if required.

Support

The AMX system is supported by an aluminium profile attached to the carriage. A rod attached to the duct keeps it in the profile along its entire length. Other customised support systems are available, such as a steel cable or an aluminium profile with bearing carriages.

Accessories

The accessories include the fitting(s) between the air handling unit and the duct, designed to ensure proper system operation, the duct hose clamps on the fitting, and, if necessary, the trolley fasteners.
